It's interesting how the game essentially mirrors both Ellie and Abby, and how their arcs transpire. They are both very intelligent, independent strong women who are both ruthless mass murderers. Both of their worlds come undone for basically the same reason over the same person, just the two sides of the same coin. Ellie represents guerrilla warfare insurgent tactics and mentality. Abby represents tactical, calculating, oppressive strongarm military force in action and mentality too. It is a game that says love is not too far removed from hatred, and that symmetry is illustrated here.
