Spoiler, no Mokujin. Hard mode doesn't change the story, or add anything new. It's also not that hard. This is my first time ever playing the Tekken 8 story so gameplay is a little sloppy in the beginning as I get used to playing Tekken again. The story got me hyped especially the end, reminded me of Saint Seiya a little bit.
