Tying an Extended Body Ephemera Danica

Forgive the slightly croaky voice - I’m just getting over a (non-covid) sore throat. This is a cracking pattern to represent E. danica and the other big mayflies. Tying these long-bodied flies on a long shank hook is one option, but this gives a very straight (and very heavy) fly that doesn’t look quite right in my eyes. This technique for extended bodies is very similar to how I tied the damselfly in my previous upload, but using moose and elk to create a banded mayfly body with loads of floatation power. Top it off with some Wally wings and a big bushy hackle, and this is an easy to tie but very effective mayfly.
