Revisiting trails of Dalai Lama’s escape to India (with English subtitle)

On March 10, 1959, in a remarkable display of defiance against the Chinese invasion, a massive gathering of Tibetans took place in Lhasa. Despite its peaceful nature, the protest met brutal suppression from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). His Holiness the Dalai Lama, a mere 23 years old at the time, secretly departed for India on March 17, 1959. Enduring a perilous journey spanning over two weeks, the Tibetan spiritual leader finally reached the Indian border on March 31, 1959. Arunachal Pradesh government recently unveiled a plan to develop the escape trail of the Dalai Lama, into a spiritual and religious tourism circuit. This ambitious project involves the construction of five monoliths at locations where the Dalai Lama rested overnight during his historic journey.
