Return to Consett Steelworks

We returned to Consett to see how much has changed since my dad took photos of the steelworks during the late 1970s and 1980. The steelworks closed in 1980. Much has changed. All photos are (C) Mike and Paul Matthews, all rights reserved. Please respect our ownership of the images. It has taken a lot of work to put this together and we provide it free of charge for your enjoyment and education. A big thank you to Peter Jack Shaw for help with the mapping and geolocation of the original photos. Some of the updated photos are a bit out of position but as you will see virtually nothing remains of the steelworks in the original photos.
