How I Escaped Death @ Gen. Maimalari's House in 1966 Coup--Rev. Idowu Animasaun + Battles with Juju

FRIDAY 18TH OF MARCH, 2022, we travelled down to Badeku Town off Ife-Ibadan Road in Oyo State, South Western Nigeria to meet retired veteran Musician turned Man of God and founder, WORLD HOPE MINISTRIES, REVEREND IDOWU ANIMASHAUN the creator of the Apola Juju Music of the 70s. For many people who were not born when Juju Music reached its climax and took a center stage in Nigeria in the 60s, the name APOLA KING may not really ring a bell. When Idowu Animashaun stormed the Nigerian Music scene he automatically became a force to reckon with as his brand of Juju Music popularly referred to as JUJU APOLA took its turn in Lagos social circle of the 60s up to the 80s. The Ogun State born Music Star turned Clergy had his contemporaries such as Chief Commander Ebenezer OBEY Fabiyi, King Sunny Ade, Expensive Olubi, Ahuja Bello, Prince Adekunle, IK Dairo and more. Idowu Animashaun was one of the earliest Juju Musicians that left an indelible mark on Nigerian social scene especially with hit songs like 'Ijo Apola', 'Thunder Balogun', 'Apola Tunde', 'Odidere L'oga Ede'. 'Kini n be n'igbo' and others tracks that remained evergreen till date. The gifted singer and composer is today a full time clergy with full devotion to ministerial work inside Badeku Town in Oyo State (few kilometers away from Ibadan). Asabe Afrika TV team met and engaged him in a two hours no-holds-barred encounter inside his World Hope International Church office inside Badeku town in Oyo State in March (Friday 18th of March 2022) and he told us the story of his music-to-clergy call into the vineyard of God and how he battled several Juju (diabolical) forces when he arrived Badeku town for missionary works in the 80s. He also revealed his weird relationship with the infamous Nigeria's 1966 Coup De Etat of January and July 1966 and how he escaped death by whiskers. It is a story never told before to anybody than Asabe Afrika TV. A red exclusive! find out more in this 1st Part of the encounter. Enjoy!
