In this video, I walk through how to build a mono-Red Goblin Commander deck for less than $100. Building Magic the Gathering decks is easily one of the best parts of MTG and Commander. Whether it's mono-red Goblins, five-color Dragons or something super niche - there's a Commander deck for everyone. Mono-Red Aggro is a timeless archetype. You can look at nearly every other card game out there and Red decks are aggro as well. This doesn't mean Red decks are easy to play though. You have to play fast and that inherently puts the pressure on your Commander deck to perform. This video not only breaks down some of the best budget Commanders for a Goblin deck, it mentions some of the best Red Commanders out there. Neheb, the Eternal is a personal favorite but Krenko, Mob Boss is the strongest single-color Commander in the game, Torbran, Thane of Red Fell is incredibly scary and Muxus, Goblin Grandee will inevitably cause problems for your opponents. This video shows my philosophy when it comes to how to build a Commander deck. Card draw in Magic the Gathering is incredibly important, as is establishing a theme and sticking to it. The biggest deckbuilding mistake I've ever made in Commander was trying to spread my deck too thin and make it do too much simply because cards seemed cool. There needs to be a game plan and for Mono-Red, that game plan is to end the game quickly. The biggest problem Mono-Red decks run into is card draw. Red decks don't have consistent options that can compete with the likes of a Rhystic Studies or Necropotence - especially when we're building a Commander deck on a budget. While card draw is certainly a weakness of Red's, that shouldn't stop you from playing it in Commander. Nowadays, we're so used to our cards doing everything and having the strongest Commanders in Magic at our disposal that it's hard to imagine NOT having access to card draw. However, it's a fun limitation to work around and should simply be seen as something to work around. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the deck. It's by no means perfect, but it also doesn't have to be. You can plug just about anything into this Mono-Red Goblins deck and it'll pilot roughly the same. That's a strength and a weakness, so I'd highly recommend this deck for new Magic players who are looking to play quick Commander games and get in some reps.
