Story of Altaf Hussain | How a middle class boy became the King of Karachi Politics? ‪@raftartv‬ In this video, we will talk about life of Altaf Hussain, once a powerful figure and now a subject of mockery. Today, people laugh at him and turn him into a meme material. But there was a time when he held immense influence, and no one could dare cross his path. Join us as we explore the journey of the self-proclaimed King of Karachi, from his humble beginnings to his current state of helplessness in London. Decades ago, Altaf Hussain's eyes used to move behind his black glasses, and he commanded respect and fear. However, a single incident changed the course of Karachi's politics forever. We take a closer look at the life of Altaf Hussain, which was once full of warmth and promise Altaf Hussain's journey in Karachi University exposed him to the various political factions. Witnessing the injustices faced by Urdu-speaking students, who were denied entry to educational institutions and hostel accommodations due to the quota system, Altaf Hussain and his friends took matters into their own hands. They established the All Pakistan Muhajir Students Organization (APMSO) to assist and advocate for these marginalized students. Through street donations, tutoring, and expanding their circle to various institutions, APMSO gained popularity and support. However, the road to success was not without its challenges. Altaf Hussain faced opposition and violence, enduring beatings and attacks. Nevertheless, the popularity of APMSO continued to rise, resonating with the Urdu-speaking population in Karachi who felt a deep sense of deprivation. The scars left by previous political regimes and policies, such as Ayub Khan's transfer of Capital from Karachi to Islamabad, the riots during Fatima Jinnah's election, and the sense of alienation caused by the nationalization policy and quota system, fueled the demand for a leader who could address their concerns. Allegations surfaced that APMSO and later the Muhajir Quami Movement (MQM) were projects of the establishment, aimed at diminishing the popularity of the People's Party. While the MQM denies being a puppet of martial law, there were indications of a soft corner for the party during Zia-ul-Haq's regime. Nevertheless, Altaf Hussain's charisma and skills propelled his popularity. Even before the establishment of APMSO, during his student days, he captivated audiences with his powerful speeches. The incident at Sir Syed College, where a student was killed in a hit-and-run accident, further deepened the linguistic divisions in Karachi. The ensuing language riots drew the Urdu-speaking population closer to the MQM, which organized rallies and gained traction. The success of these events, along with the remarkable speeches of Altaf Hussain, cemented his position as a prominent leader. However, as the years passed, Karachi witnessed dark times. target killings, and lawlessness plagued the city, leading to police confrontations and military operations against the MQM. The character of Altaf Hussain faced scrutiny, and accusations began to surface. Despite operating the party from thousands of miles away in London. Join us in the next video as we explore the post-1988 era of Altaf Hussain's life, the accusations against him, and the turning point in his political career.
