The most recent addition to my collection, the Getzen Deluxe cornet! I've been playing this horn constantly for the last few days. Such a fun horn! It has a slightly smaller bore than on the Besson or Adams large bore cornets (bore size isn't everything, but it is one important design factor). This is a very agile and supremely versatile instrument! Connection between the notes is really great and the valves feel fantastic (Getzen makes some of my favorite valves). There's a nice combination of fluidity and pop when changing notes. It's also an efficient instrument even with a fairly deep mouthpiece. With a more trumpet-style cup this becomes a fantastic option for small group/trad jazz settings. With an extra deep mouthpiece this horn gets super rich and creamy. The design of this horn is beautiful as well. The classic Eterna leadpipe wrap looks so great in the Sterling silver. Then you have the rose brass bell (two piece) with some art deco engraving. Even the case looks great, and very retro. This is truly a great horn, at a very fair price.
