Mountain Camping in Heavy Rain and Strong Winds in Snowdonia with the Hilleberg Soulo

Join me on a mountain camp in Snowdonia, Wales! The weather is terrible from start to finish on this trip. I hike up the mountain to a small llyn where I setup camp for the night. Despite the weather I cook a nice meal, steak and brussel sprouts, inside my tent using the jetboil and brace for a long night. The Hilleberg Soulo really got put through it’s paces on this trip. Mountain forecast said this area experienced winds up to 95km/h (59mph) that evening. I definitely did not experience sustained winds of that speed as I was able to find a slightly sheltered spot, however I definitely experienced gusts coming through of up to 60mph. In fact, on the way down the mountain a gust hit me from behind and knocked me off my feet. First time I’ve ever experienced that! Anyways, I was unable to film with my normal camera gear for the majority of the trip so most things were filmed with the GoPro. I apologize if the audio and video quality is a little worse than normal. Also, as a result of being secluded in my tent for over 12 hours I decided to just start talking to the camera. I know this is not my normal video format but it never hurts to try something different! Haha, I use words like battered and lug a few times which I normally never use. Not sure why. I think I was a bit nervous talking but eventually I become more comfortable with the camera as the video goes on. I decided to keep all my awkward ramblings in the video because it’s the first time I actually ever talk! So despite not getting much sleep because of the noise throughout the evening, I really enjoyed this trip. I definitely plan on doing more trips to Snowdonia in the near future.
