Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Montana's Movie Madness (Game Boy) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Konami's 1993 license-based platformer for the Nintendo Game Boy, Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Montana's Movie Madness. This video shows both loops through the game in order to see the best ending. The more difficult second loop begins at 37:07. Montana's Movie Madness is the sequel to Bab's Big Break (   • Tiny Toon Adventures: Babs' Big Break...   ) released the previous year, and it continues to build the Konami brand's sterling reputation for excellent games based on licensed IPs. This time, Montana Max has built his own movie theater, but in all of his movies, Buster Bunny is cast as the villain. Buster Bunny objects to this, and rather than ignoring the rich bully and allowing the business to fold on its own, he decides to instead ruin Montana Max's movies by becoming the bully himself. This is such an absurdly contrived scenario for a game, even by Konami standards. The game features five stages, and in the first four, Buster fights his way through the movies: there's a spaghetti western, a samurai period piece, a sci-fi robot film, and finally, a cheesy monster B-movie. Once each of these areas have been cleared, you go to Montana Max's studio for the final showdown. The gameplay is similar to the earlier Tiny Toon games - it's still a hop'n'bop platformer, but it introduces a dash mechanic similar to what we saw in Buster Busts Loose on the SNES (   • Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Lo...   ), as well as a collection of sports-themed minigames that you can play for extra points. Where it differs from those earlier games is in its hugely ramped up difficulty level. The first TTA games on NES, GB, and SNES were all fairly easy games, just as you would expect being based on a kiddie license. Montana's Movie Madness is much closer to TTA2: Trouble in Wackyland on NES (   • Видео   ) in its challenge. The levels are big and loaded with surprise attacks, extra lives are few and far between, and continues are limited. As kids, my sister and I never managed to actually finish the game. It kicked our asses. Hard. But the difficulty level never made the game not fun. We got a ton of play out of it, and I still think it's a blast to play now. The controls are tight, the levels are creatively designed, and the graphics and sound are top-tier stuff for the Game Boy. (Apparently the Japanese version scaled the difficulty way back from the US one. I haven't played that one, but it might be worth a look of you find this one frustrating to play.) Overall, if you like the series and are up for a stiff challenge, Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Montana's Movie Madness is a great pick that stays true to the spirit of the show. Recorded with Retroarch's DMG shader to mimic the look of the original hardware. _____________ No cheats were used during the recording of this video.
