MAN VS. MACHINE | RACING THE HILTI JAIBOT

We’ve wanted to get our hands on the Hilti Jaibot for a long time. We finally did, so of course we had to challenge it to a race. Jaibot is a semi-autonomous construction robot that helps specialty contractors in overhead drilling situations. It helps workers stay safely on the ground, saves their backs and shoulders from the labor intensive process of drilling in ceilings for extended periods of time, and increases the speed and consistency of drilling. The specialty contractors we feel get the most value out of this innovation are the MEP (Mechanical, Electric and Plumbing) trades. They frequently run things in ceilings and can benefit from having the Jaibot on their jobs. Here are a couple notes from our field testing for those looking to use Jaibot on their project - The best projects for the Jaibot are those that are single level with a ton of holes. If you have two or three holes here and there on multiple levels it doesn’t have a very good ROI. If you’re working in an airport terminal, or even a medical office building it makes a lot of sense and brings a ton of productivity into the process. If you are already using BIM on your project, you can easily integrate the Jaibot into the workflow. The hole locations will be coordinated up front in the model or CAD files and located in the field using Hilti’s Robotic Total Station. Roll the Jaibot into place and hit start. Hilti has an in-house team that can help you get the layout files ready to go. Construction robotics is a booming industry right now and we absolutely love getting around these awesome tools and seeing what they’re capable of. If you know of any other robots we should go meet, make sure you drop a comment below! Special thanks to Bailey Harris for letting us join them on the Rane Culinary project in Auburn, Alabama.
