This video is part of the continuing "Primer For Paradigm Shift" series. This video will show and good chunk of the permaculture story for River Road Neighborhood in Eugene, Oregon. There is small but significant level of permaculture interest and action in the neighborhood. The video shows several permaculture properties, permaculture events over the years, more properties by way of site tours. We will learn how the neighborhood association has played an important role on behalf of permaculture over the years. The video describes several public events, monthly programs that feature permaculture, the Greenway and how familiarity with the neighborhood association has as led to productive collaborations with the city of Eugene. The video describes the 2015 Northwest Permaculture Convergence - a suburban permaculture convergence. River Road has a wide range of front yard gardens where its easy to meet meighbors walking by on the street. Finally, we take a look at a hopeful future that shows how suburbia might look if current ideals and actions lead to bigger changes such as how might the residential part of the neighborhood look if more people coolaborate with each other to transform their properties and also how might a suburban strip mall parking lot might be reborn into a neighborhood downtown with affordable housing, local businesses and accessible more easily by walking, bus and bike.
