Sad news to end 2023 - GBRf have retired one of their two remaining Ruston/Paxman engined 'Grids'. BR Blue liveried 081 will be moved to Longport in the next few days to be stored. It's not announced yet whether the loco will be used to provide donor spares for the GBRf class 69's or whether it will enter the conversion program as an additional loco to become '017'. The other remaining Ruston/Paxman grid 098 will remain operational for GBRf for the near future. Here's a selection of some of my favourite recent clips of 081 at work.
