Residents in the Israeli-occupied West Bank are facing economic hardships as they prepare for Eid al-Adha, leading to a notable drop in turnout at the open-air livestock market. Eid al-Adha, celebrated from June 16 to 20, involves the ritual slaughter of animals, but this year, many Palestinians are unable to afford sacrificial sheep. Livestock merchants report prices have surged due to increased fodder costs linked to the Ukraine war and economic constraints. Merchant Emad Abu Nasir noted, "People do not have money as you can see." The Palestinian economy ministry attributes the reduced buying power to layoffs of workers previously employed in Israel and unpaid public wages.
