Bob Carlson Animation

Robert (Bob) W. Carlson was an American animator and cartoon director at Walt Disney Studios. He started work from 1937 to 1958, mostly animating for the Donald Duck cartoon series and the studio's feature length films. He is remembered as being one of great Disney animators by Floyd Norman and as a tutor for a young Iwao Takamoto. Carlson's style uses mostly keys and breakdowns with very little inbetweening. He would often hold or stagger drawings to great effect, paired with his great sense of timing and poses. His style can also be seen as an early glimpse of the faster animation direction that would later be employed at Disney during the late 1940s/early 1950s. Music used: "Champagne Cocktail" & "Message from Mars" by Ambrose and His Orchestra All clips are presumed and use the best available information: 0:00 - The Flying Jalopy (1943) 0:05 - The Village Smithy (1942) 0:11 - Der Feuhrer's Face (1943) 0:29 - Alice in Wonderland (1951) 0:44 - Grin and Bear It (1954) 0:49 - Squatter's Rights (1946) 0:57 - The New Spirit (1942) 1:13 - Sleeping Beauty (1959) 1:30 - Tea for Two Hundred (1948) 1:45 - The Flying Jalopy (1943) 1:50 - Trailer Horn (1950) 1:59 - Lady & the Tramp (1955) 2:05 - Soup's On (1948) 2:08 - Peter Pan (1953) 2:13 - A Good Time for a Dime (1941) 2:21 - Peter Pan (1953) 2:23 - Donald's Camera (1941) 2:36 - The Flying Jalopy (1943) 2:37 - Lucky Number (1951) 2:43 - Winter Storage (1949) 2:50 - Fun & Fancy Free (1947) 2:56 - Peter Pan (1953) 3:08 - The Eyes Have It (1945) 3:31 - The Flying Jalopy (1943) 3:36 - Peter Pan (1953) 3:41 - Frank Duck Brings 'Em Back Alive (1946) 3:44 - Canvas Back Duck (1953) 3:50 - Donald's Tire Trouble (1943) 3:53 - Donald's Happy Birthday (1949) 3:59 - Alice in Wonderland (1951) 4:09 - Donald's Camera (1941) 4:12 - Peter Pan (1953) 4:13 - Sleeping Beauty (1959) 4:16 - Spare The Rod (1954) 4:26 - Squatter's Rights (1946) 4:33 - Fantasia (1940) 4:36 - The Eyes Have It (1945) 4:47 - Test Pilot Donald (1951) 4:52 - Lion Around (1950) 5:07 - Slide Donald Slide (1948) 5:10 - The Eyes Have It (1945) 5:28 - Lion Around (1950) 5:39 - Frank Duck Brings 'Em Back Alive (1946) 5:45 - Soup's On (1948) 5:50 - Rugged Bear (1953) 6:04 - Donald in Mathmagic Land (1959) 6:07 - The Flying Jalopy (1943) 6:14 - Trailer Horn (1950) 6:16 - Lady & the Tramp (1955) 6:19 - Susie the Little Blue Coupe (1952) 6:29 - Crazy Over Daisy (1950) 6:43 - The Eyes Have It (1945) 6:49 - All in a Nutshell (1949) 6:55 - The Greener Yard (1949) 6:58 - The Flying Jalopy (1943) 7:00 - Donald's Happy Birthday (1949) 7:02 - Peter Pan (1953) 7:08 - Hook, Lion and Sinker (1950) 7:13 - Soup's On (1948) 7:16 - Peter Pan (1953) 7:19 - Alice in Wonderland (1951) 7:21 - Fantasia (1940) 7:25 - A Good Time for a Dime (1941) 7:27 - The Eyes Have It (1945) 7:29 - Slide Donald Slide (1948) 7:38 - Donald's Gold Mine (1942) All clips belong to their respective sources.
