This is the best way to grow potatoes that I have tried so far. I planted 5 pounds of Red Pontiac potatoes and yielded 31 pounds. I planted 5 pounds of Yukon gold potatoes and yielded 14 pounds. I planted a total of 10 pounds and yielded a total of 45 pounds. The family and I were eating them throughout the growing season so we would have harvested a lot more Yukon's if we hadn't. I tilled the soil, placed my seed potatoes on top of the soil, covered them with a foot of straw and watered them in. Simple no dig method, just move the straw and harvest. This is called the Ruth Stout method. I'll show how the potatoes progressed throughout the year and of course the harvest! ENJOY!
