Birmingham holds a number of accolades within the UK including being the UK's second largest city, some of the highest crime rates and homelessness (Holding a higher crime rate than London) and being home to the UK's "Dirtiest Street". Is Birmingham really one of the "Most Dangerous Places In The UK", are the negative headlines justified? With one of the most popular TV shows being set in the city "Peaky Blinders", Birmingham is known Worldwide for being home to the Shelby Family and the Peaky Blinders. Like in the hit TV show, in reality Birmingham has a notorious reputation! I start my Video in Birmingham City Centre I was surprised at the beautiful architecture on display in this UK City Centre but also shocked at the obvious signs of deprivation, crime and homelessness on the streets of this once grand industrial city. Numerous Shops are left abandoned and the doorways are filled with Homeless people and substance abusers taking shelter from the notorious British Weather. Birmingham has been at the centre of numerous negative headlines holding a reputation nationwide of being a deprived and dangerous UK city, I headed to Birmingham to explore the City and get a true understanding of real life on the streets of Birmingham and find out whether the dangerous and negative reputation Birmingham has is warranted. I headed to Residential areas within Birmingham including the "dangerous No-Go areas" of Aston and Handsworth, then headed to one of the supposed nicer neighbourhoods of Birmingham the Selly Oak Area. I managed to Street Interview a number of Locals to get an understanding of the difficulties of living in one of the "Most Dangerous Places in the UK", on my journey I interviewed a couple of American Tourists who we showed around Birmingham, it was very interesting to hear what stereotypes the Americans had of the UK, and the stark differences between the USA and Britain and the differences between British and American cultures. Watching the Americans react to British life was very interesting.
