I didn't block people for a long time. Honestly, I rarely have a reason for it. The vast majority of you are absolutely delightful and, especially when I look at other creators' comment sections, I feel like I won the "nice audience" lottery. There's this saying among marketing types that "all engagement is good engagement" and they're right—if appeasing the algorithm gods is the ultimate good. But cowards nestled behind the safety of their phone screens like to comment things they would never dare say in real life. It's not ONLY men I've blocked, but they are the overwhelming majority based on profile pictures and usernames. Haters gonna hate, but I realized it was affecting my thoughts when interacting with men out in the "real world" and I didn't like that. This is not to say that every man I meet in the real world is operating in his highest identity, but I do want to give everyone the same benefit of the doubt, especially on first meeting. It's effortless to assume the worst, but nothing good ever comes from condemning a group of people based on their genetics. I don't want to fall prey to sample bias by assuming this loud but small group of people on the internet speak for their entire gender, because I honestly don't believe that they do.
