The Holy Spirit is a Person! 1. The Holy Spirit uses the personal pronoun in reference to Himself. Acts 13v2 2. Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as a person. John 16v7,8,13,14 3. The Holy Spirit’s work is to carry on the ministry of a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. John 14v16-17 4. The Holy Spirit has the three elements of personality. Romans 8v27 “the mind of the Spirit” / Acts 16v6-7 “forbidden by the Spirit…the Spirit didn't permit them” / The Holy Spirit has emotions. Ephesians 4v30 “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit.” 5. The Holy Spirit performs actions that only a person can perform. 6. The Holy Spirit has personal feelings ascribed to Him. 7. The Holy Spirit is associated with the Father and the Son who are persons. Mt. 28v19; 2 Cor. 13v14; Jn 16v14; 1 Jn 5v7 8. The Holy Spirit is a person because moral goodness is ascribed to Him. Nehemiah 9v20; Psalm 143v10 Our goal is to live our lives in such a way that what we do SEEMS GOOD TO THE HOLY SPIRIT! 1. A persistent lifestyle of disobedience breaks the Holy Spirit’s heart.
