The Golden Age of Classical Records is a series I have been working on to showcase the great classical records that were produced during the late 50's and early 60's. Among the greatest labels was Mercury Living Presence. In this video, I comment on some famous records from Mercury, and what makes the label so unique and still desirable to audiophiles and music lovers.In addition to large scale orchestral records, they featured much music for band and wind ensemble, many premiere recordings of 20th century composers, as well as a series of organ recordings. Among the conductors recorded for Mercury are Antal Dorati, Frederic Fennell, Paul Paray, Howard Hanson, and Sir John Barbirolli.
