We now always make it a point to have longer layover to have the opportunity to explore a new city somewhere in the world. This time, we have 10 hours in the Netherlands after landing in Amsterdam on our way to Portugal. I have to say, we truly crushed it on this Amsterdam layover! It all started with a quick train ride to Zaanse Schans, a Dutch Windmill village not too far from the city. This place was simply stunning and is in fact a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the cheese, the hot chocolate and of course, the beautiful sights it is a must do when in the Holland. From there, we made it all the way back, by train, once again downtown Amsterdam to visit their largest market named Albert Cyup Markt. While walking around there we decided to make up our own Netherlands street tour and it all started with the best Stroopwafle in Amsterdam at Rudi's. It was AMAZING!!! Now, before leaving, I had to go check out the world famous Amsterdam Red Light District. It`s the kind of place that you hear about online and in movie and I was very curious.
