La Cosita is Spanish for “the little thing” which I can only assume they’re referring to the little feet or my little experience with finger and thin hand cracks. This was our third day on and we had big plans to climb Serenity and Sons. Unfortunately Jake sustained a real injury the day prior and we were left with only one option. Single pitch cragging the big stone! This route is located at the base of El Capitan somewhere under the Free Solo film studio. If this is what 5.9 on El Cap feels like, I can’t imagine climbing 5.12! Fortunately I was able to pull it off. But in true onsight fashion, I had no idea where the anchors were. Looking up, down, right and left, I was not able to find anything. Eventually I found it out left around a pillar like block. The left anchor bolt was a stud bolt with the nut literally welded on. Wild. Fun fact, my boy Jake was able to finesse that first fixed piece out after I spent maybe 30 minutes on it! He must be lord of the lobes.
