Quake done Quick - Quake Speedrun in

This is the famous original Quake done Quick video recorded by Yonatan Donner, Matthias Belz and Nolan Pflug. In April 1997, Nolan "Radix" Pflug first started the Nightmare Speed Demos website to keep track of the fastest Quake demos. This video was finalized in June of that same year. Quake done Quick, unlike the conventional record demos, featured a full playthrough of the game, carrying over one level's finishing statistics to the next. It quickly became a sensation in the Quake community and received widespread mainstream attention from gaming magazines, being distributed as part of the free CDs that they came with. Those familiar with more recent Quake speedrunning projects will notice the lack of bunny hopping; that technique wasn't pioneered until May 1998. This video was recorded using a customized JoeQuake 0.15b1862 build in software mode at 640x400, then upscaled to force Youtube to produce a high quality encode. The intention was to make the encode look close to the original game while still making use of a 16/10 aspect ratio and minimized HUD. It's near-lossless when using the Original quality setting.
