1969 Rolls-Royce Mulliner Park Ward Coupe

This beautiful Rolls--Royce Coupe is well known to us as we supplied it to the last owner in 2017. Since last seeing the car it has covered a further 1000 faultless miles and has been a complete delight to own. We have known the Rolls-Royce since 2015 when it was subject of £20,000 of cosmetic attention. Five years on the car still presents superbly - reflecting the quality of the work carried out. 70 NNX was supplied new on the 22nd August 1969 by H.R Owen Ltd to the Chairman of Mining Supplies Ltd in South Yorkshire with full refrigeration, fog lamps and lap and diagonal safety belts to each front seat. The first owner was known for revolutionising mining methods and successfully grew his Company employing 6500 people. He was also involved in some controversial industrial relations during the 1970's and 1980's and his affairs were even debated in Parliament. 70 NNX comes with a documented history detailing all ownership records. In 2012 the car was purchased by one of our long-term regular customers in Lincolnshire. The car was then incredibly original with a genuine mileage of 112,000. Over three years £4500 was spent improving the car. We have receipts for lubrication work, a full service to include ignition items, a brake service, a new choke pipe, Magnecor HT leads, new sound deadening felt, new Wilton carpets and a new stainless steel exhaust system which alone cost £1450. On two separate occasions the MPW was driven over to us and was clearly in excellent mechanical condition. It retained a high quality largely original interior, but the paintwork was starting to show signs of its age. The Rolls-Royce came into our ownership for the first time in 2015 and we immediately sold the vehicle to a customer who then commissioned around £20,000 of improvement work. The body was taken back to a rolling shell, with all windows removed and stripped down to bare metal. The car was then fully re-painted in Rolls Royce Midnight Blue. Bumpers, window frames, headlamp surrounds and door handles were re-chromed, the wheels were re-painted and the engine bay detailed. New rubbers, mouldings, window channels and a new set of tyres were fitted. A new wool headlining was installed and all electrics were checked and window motors and switches re-furbished, seat motors removed and re-furbished and the car fully serviced. A further £3000 was subsequently spent on original specification hub caps, a period and correct Becker Europa radio from Chrome London, complete with discreetly fitted iPOD lead, lambswool overrugs and an appropriate five digit registration number with cast digit plates from Ace Peak Plates was fitted. In 2017 the Rolls Royce had a brake overhaul which included stripping the braking system and rebuilding the brake calipers, fitting two re-conditioned brake pumps, two brake spheres, rear height control valves and fitting a new valve body. A new coolant header tank and seals, thermostat and viscous fan were fitted, taking the mechanical expenditure to around £5,000 in 2017. In the esnsuing three years the car has performed faultlessly for its previous owner who has really enjoyed driving this wonderful car. Five years on since the cars cosmetic restoration work still presents beautifully with an outstanding paint finish. All body panels have a superb profile. The car is very impressive throughout and the interior has a lovely aged, original feel to it although clearly benefiting from the replacement wool headlining and carpets. The seats are original, as are the door cards and they have a lovely patina. The woodwork has an excellent finish, indeed the car has an aura of quality throughout. This Rolls-Royce is truly outstanding to drive and offers luxury, superb performance, and reliability. The car handles wonderfully; the engine and gearbox are super quiet as expected and the car sails along gracefully. The car is ideal for regular use, long distance touring and is a top class driving car, well above the standard of most of its peers. Now showing 119k miles and having had careful use and the best part of £30,000 spent with its recent owners, this car is a wonderful example of the model and excellent value for money.
