Ski Switzerland II Zermatt and Crans-Montana

Travel and explore the amazing Zermatt, Crans-Montana, and Geneva. If you are wondering where you should travel in the winter or deciding which Mountain to ski and snowboard, well you’re in luck. I have the answers. My wife and I departed Germany early in the morning to pick up my brother from the Zurich airport. He flew direct from New York and besides enjoying himself a little too much in the sky lounge he had a great flight. We departed the airport and drive to our home base for the next few days, Visp. The drive was about 3-4 hours, but the thing about driving in Switzerland is that it is beautiful. We stopped once along Lake Lucerne where I took out the drone and got some amazing shots. There is nothing quiet like mountains hanging over lakes, it creates a surreal feeling. We continued for another hour or so until we reached Furkapass. The thing about Europe is that no one drives a pickup truck and if they do it’s a mid-size. So the entire experience of putting it on a train and going through a mountain was really unique. Zermatt: Is one of the most beautiful places I have explored. The town itself is super unique as you need to take a train to get to it. Yes that’s right, there are no privately owned vehicles in the town. There essentially oversized golf carts that serve as taxis that will take you up and down the three roads. The town is nothing but beauty, fun, and different. We enjoyed in swiss chocolate, fun bars, and delicious food. Overall, Zermatt is a little slice of heaven and can thoroughly be enjoyed without ever getting onto the mountain. Zermatt (Ski/Snowboarding): Without a doubt top five best mountains I have ever boarded. The views (when they were available) were absolutely amazing, the runs were fantastic, and there were hardly any people there. The mountain is pretty large, and it takes about two full days to do every run once. The cool part is depending on what side of the mountain you are on the conditions and runs are very different. When you visit don’t limit yourself to one side. Ski it all. One more thing I want to highlight is the food on the mountain is fantastic. By far the best mountain food I’ve ever had. Downside, it isn’t cheap. After we explored and carved up Zermatt we drove west to Crans-Montana. When we planned the trip I wanted to show my brother as much of Switzerland as I could without it being too exhausting. Traveling is amazing but if you’re moving every single day trying to get the picture or say you’ve been there then more times then not you are left empty. Therefore we broke the trip up into three main stops over the course of 8 days. Which for us worked great. Crans-Montana: The absolute, best, number one mountains I have ever boarded on. Crans-Montana just gets it. The runs are out of this world, the powder is magnificent and the best I’ve had in Europe. There are lifts that will drop you up at the top and the only way to get down is through powder. No groomed trail. Wow, what a thing of beauty. So, without rambling on. Ski Crans-Montana it is fantastic. After we finished the ski/snowboard portion of the trip I wanted to visit a city that had been on my list for a while. Geneva: Beautiful city, great architecture, solid bars, and good restaurants. Geneva isn’t one of my favorite European cities and probably doesn’t crack the top 10 but if you’re in the area its worth the stop. Overall Switzerland is my top three favorite countries of all time. It doesn’t matter when you visit because it is always beautiful and there is something to do. I love snowboarding in Switzerland and have been on over ten trips. If skiing the Alps is on your bucket list then you have a great bucket list. If you enjoyed the video please like, subscribe, and share with your friends and family.
