FALAFEL

Fun! Easy! Eat with your hands! All you need is patience (because it takes three days!) WHAT YOU’LL NEED Day One - 1 bag dry garbanzo beans - 1 litre water - 1 tsp. baking soda Day Two - 1 cup fresh parsley - 1/2 cup fresh dill - 1/2 cup fresh cilantro - 1 onion (red or yellow) - 7-10 garlic cloves - 1 tsp. cayenne pepper - 1 tbsp. black pepper - 1 tbsp. cumin - 1 tbsp. coriander - 1 tbsp. allspice - 1 tbsp. kosher salt Day Three - Canola oil - 1 tsp. baking powder - 2 tsp. sesame seeds DAY ONE Fill up a big receptacle (with lid if possible) with 1 litre of cold water. Add entire bag of garganzos. Add 1 tsp of baking soda. Let sit in fridge for 24 hours. The beans WILL expand so make sure the container is big enough! DAY TWO Drain your now swollen garbanzo beans. Place them on a paper towel-lined tray, spread out, and allow them to dry for a few hours. Once dry, in a food processor, add the garbanzo, herbs, and spices. You might have to work in batches, because the garbanzos will yield A LOT of mix. Pulse in food processor until chunky - you DO NOT want to over process and make it smooth. Pour the mix back into the container, and let it rest for another 24 hours in the fridge. DAY THREE Remove the mix from fridge, and mix with 1 tsp of baking powder, and 2 tsp of sesame seeds. Bring Canola oil to around 350F on medium high - use a thermometer to see when the oil is ready (or stick a wooden spoon in it - it bubbles when its hot enough). USING WET HANDS (WET!!!!), form the falafel mixture into tight balls. Don’t prepare too many balls ahead of time, because they might dry out while waiting to be fried. Once oil is hot and your falafel balls are formed, fry for about 5 minutes, until they are brown. Serve with hummus! Or not! I dunno! Whatever you want! Yalla! 🎥: @isittoolateto_edit
