It marked the beginning of each and every episode of the original Star Trek series. The science fiction series was originally created by Gene Roddenberry, whose creative genius earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as induction into the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame, as well as the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. The original Star Trek series aired on September 8th, 1966, and ran for a total of three seasons and 79 episodes until it ended on June 3rd, 1969. Still, the writers weren’t afraid to add elements of drama when it was called for. Star Trek’s writing and worldbuilding have always been two of its greatest strengths, but one more element that made Star Trek so amazing was its cast. The show’s colorful characters were played by an impressive ensemble cast of actors, including Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, and William Shatner. Sadly, because Star Trek aired so long ago, many of those amazing cast members have since passed away.
