Yashica Electro 35 GT w/o Light Seals | POV Film Photography | Bacolod Silay Talisay Lakawon Island

Check out my Carousell store for some film cameras: https://www.carousell.ph/u/feelmanila/ ============================= This is an experiment to know the importance of light seals in a film camera. This Yashica Electro 35 GT’s light seals were already deteriorated over time and I didn’t replaced it since I have its half leather case. The photos showed its massive light leak in the first few frames withouts its half case. But even with the half case the light leaks are still showing on some of the images. I found out that the film door hinge is causing the leak. The white light leak indicates that the stray light comes in contact to the emulsion side, this is how the film rests in the spool of Yashica Electro 35. The leak also present across the film reaching the sprockets. The leaks still gave a cool look to some of the photos. Depending on your composition, it can add a feel or it can ruin your shot. It may not also affect all of the images depending on where you are shooting. Always replace deteriorated light seals when you buy old film cameras. It is a 10 minute easy task. I already replaced the light seals afterwards. ============= In this photowalk, we explored some of the tourist spots in Negros Occidental, an island located in the middle part of the Philippines. This Yashica Electro 35 GT has an iso 1000 compared to other models which can only go up to iso 500. This is an aperture priority camera with bulb and flash mode. It is easy to operate and the images looks good and sharp. I developed and scanned the film at home, converted in Lightroom using Negative Lab Pro plugin. I scanned using my Canon 6D and a Canon 100mm macro lens. Any questions or comments, let me know below!
