Dale Steyn Detailed Bowling Action Analysis

[For those who wanted english caption] Dale Steyn Bowling Action Analysis- [A] RUN-UP: [1]Dale Steyn had a long run-up of about 19 meters. [2] He had a run-up speed of about 90% of his maximum running speed. [3] He followed proper running techniques like running in cyclic motion & conserving his linear momentum by running in a straight line that too accompanied by the smooth movements of his arms. [4] In the initial phase of his run-up, he runs in with both arms closed together and with small running strides to avoid sideways movement. [5] During this phase of his run-up he is slightly leaned forward for gaining acceleration. [6] In the second phase of his run-up he opens up his arms and also starts to increase his running strides. [7] His bowling arm wrist is locked at 90° during his whole run-up. [B] JUMP & GATHER: [1] He had a nice & long jump which helped him in transferring his momentum from his run-up to his BFC. [2] During his jump he isn't leaned backward i.e. the role of his shin lead in minimum is almost negligible in his bowling speed. [3] Initially he used to have his load-up behind his back which allowed his to swing the ball in only one direction but after changing his action he had his load-up in front of his shoulders which not only allowed him to swing the ball in both ways but also helped him in gaining more control over the ball. [4] He also used to have a powerful impulse stride thereby giving him proper time for getting properly aligned for his action. [C] BFC: [1] Dale Steyn had a very quick BFC of about 0.15sec that helped him in transferring his momentum from back-foot to front-foot directly without collapsing on his back-foot. [2] He had no heel contact during his BFC. [3] He was a hip-dominant side-on bowler i.e. he didn't bent his knee much during his BFC to generate pace, instead he used his run-up speed to generate pace. [4] Being a side-on bowler he showed more hip-to-shoulder separation resulting in a delayed bowling-arm. [5] He also had one of the best pre-turn ever i.e. turning of his back foot from a side-on to a front-on position before releasing the ball. [6] At his back-foot contact he had his non-bowling arm elbow at its highest position which not only helped him in increasing his pace but also giving him more control on his line and length. [D] NON-BOWLING ARM: [1] The motion of his non-bowling arm in during his action is quite effective & unique. [2] During his jump, he positions his non-bowling arm elbow above the wrist. As he lands on his back foot, he raises his non-bowling arm elbow to its highest point to generate more pace and bounce. [3] He always keep his non-bowling arm in front of his eyes. [E] DELIVERY STRIDE & FFC: [1] During his delivery stride he made sure that his body was properly aligned at his delivery stride. [2] During his delivery stride, he creates an angle of more than 180° between his bowling arm and non-bowling arm. This allows him to delay the movement of his non-bowling arm thereby generating more pace in his bowling. [3] Despite leaning forward on his front-foot contact he never lost his pace due to his quick run-up speed and quick-arm action. [4] He also had a nice & forward chest drive targeting toward his target which acted as an additional advantage for him. [5] During his whole bowling action he never got off his eyes off his target and also maintained a stable head position during his ball release. [6] He had an ideal wrist position at his ball release point i.e. his wrist were locked at 90° at his ball-release and his body was also properly aligned which helped him swinging the ball both ways with pace. ------------------------------------------------------- For Business Enquiry: [email protected] -------------------------------------------------------- More videos like this👇👇 #1 | Dale Steyn Analysis    • Dale Steyn Detailed Bowling Action An...   #2 | Shoaib Akhtar Analysis    • Shoaib Akhtar Detailed Bowling Action...   #3 | Brett Lee Analysis    • Brett Lee Detailed Bowling Action Ana...   #4 | Mitchell Starc Analysis    • Mitchell Starc Detailed Bowling Actio...   #5 | Jofra Archer Analysis    • Jofra Archer Detailed Bowling Action ...   Full Playlist►    • Detailed Bowling Action Analysis   © Copyright Disclaimer: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
