EQUIPMENT Steel integral construction, safety glass all round, zero torque anti-burst locks, air extraction vents, safety styled door handles/window winders, twin-tone horns, sealed beam headlamps, front circular driving lamps, twin reversing lamps, spare wheel cover, wooden fascia and upper door cappings, fully reclining front bucket seats, bucket style rear seating with fold down armrest, padded dashtop, safety passenger vanity mirror, four pod central gauge cluster comprising, oil pressure, fuel gauge, engine temperature, ammeter. Seat belt stowage points, cigar lighter, branded aluminium scuff plates, 3-spoke sports steering wheel, extra sound insulation, electric clock. EXTERIOR This beautiful 1600E is finished in Ford Ermine White (code BA) and boasts a pure bright shine. There is evidence of remedial paintwork having been completed throughout the car in order to maintain the high standard of finish. There is however an isolated area to the bottom of each front wing where the paint has started to lift, visible upon very close inspection only. The paint is crazed along the seam joining the front wings to the scuttle panel. This example is incredibly sound structurally with no evidence of weld repairs to the underside and none being required. The exterior trim, bumpers and extra 1600E ornamentation is intact and in excellent order, aside from very minor pitting to the chrome work on the bumpers and slight dulling to the headlamps surrounds. All glass areas and lights are in excellent order, including the twin reversing lamps standard only on the 1600E model. Collectively a hugely commendable classic Ford exterior, with the added desirable 1600E kudos. INTERIOR The interior of this classic Cortina is truly awe-inspiring. The sculptured front and rear bucket seats are trimmed in black PVC (code B635) and remain in remarkable condition with no wear to the coverings. The seats have retained all integrity and shape, as have the matching door cards. The real walnut fascia and door cappings are in excellent order, aside from very negligible age related wear to the upper surface of the door cappings. All gauges housed in the stunning fascia are clear and fully operational, as are all other interior functions and controls. Replacement carpeting has been added and freshen up the overall interior feel, however the carpeting joins underneath the seats are not perfect, but do not detract at all from the impressive cabin offered with this example. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The 1600E is fitted with the high performance version of the 1600cc cross flow engine with a higher compression ratio so producing 93bhp at 5400rpm. This gives a top speed of 96mph and 0-60 in 11.8 seconds. A full engine rebuild has been carried out including conversion to use unleaded fuel. The 4-speed transmission has a light short shift action. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The 5 ½ inch rim styled wheels with painted rims and chromed spiders are in used condition and are shod in 165 SR13 tyres. The hydraulically operated and servo assisted brakes stop the car safely offering driver confidence. HISTORY FILE Photographic documentation of a body restoration and engine rebuild will offer the next owner of this executive Cortina assurance of a sound, usable example.
