Blackpool Tramway 131st Anniversary Celebrations - Sunday 25th September 2016

Part 1:    • Blackpool Tramway 131st Anniversary C...   Well here is Part 2 of 2 from the 131st Anniversary Celebrations that Blackpool Tramway held. As well as the Saturday, the Sunday proved just to be just as fantastic. Once again, plenty of action happened on the Sunday (with another hour long video). Around this time last year, Blackpool Tramway celebrated 130 years since the tramway first opened in 1885. Last year, they put on without a doubt, the best tramway event Blackpool Tramway has seen for a long time. Plenty of trams out and plenty going on. This year, Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours promised an event even better than last year and boy did they deliver! Like last year, plenty of trams came out (both stored and active) and plenty of course was going on during the first day alone. The second day proved to be just as fantastic. On a lower tone for a moment. Like the Saturday, disaster struck again! Boat 600 derailed at Pleasure Beach whilst it was departing. Thanks to this, a network wide radio call was made to every single tram to terminate at the next stop. Eventually, this was lifted after a few moments and the network could move (sort of). Trams from the North turned at North Pier, and Pleasure Beach was brought to a halt. I was luckily at North Pier just as the incident happened; so I managed to get some trams making rare track, the Northbound direction on the North Pier South Ground Frame. We also see some Flexity2 trams making some rare destinations too! On a much more positive note now. The amount of trams out was unbelievable! Plenty to ride on and plenty to see. Blundell Street had the showing of Stored Brush Car 632, towed by 631. The depot itself had recent arrival Balloon 708, Millenium Car 709 and Rocket Tram 732. The mainline had nearly all of the heritage examples out, each putting in their own show and displaying at Pleasure Beach. Towards the end, it got very busy with many trams passing through North Pier either heading back home, or on final services. We see trams once again at Various locations. Rigby Road, Blundell Street, Blackpool Main Promenade, Onboard's at Bispham, Little Bispham Loop and the bits inbetween. Taken Sunday 25th September 2016. Just want to give Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours massive credit for the special weekend. This is Blackpool Tramway at its very best!
