Directly after my stay in Bavaria, I find myself back in the UK and heading towards Sidmouth (Devon) just in time for Sidmouth Folk Week; which happens during the last week in August every year. Here we find a wonderfully sunny town on the edge of the English Riviera, complete with timeless shops and a strong connection to the sea. We take a walk down to the sea from my mums apartment, taking in the 'Prom', and the events happening on the water. In town we look at the culture and we find a church with things going on. When I get back to the flat, my mums give us a guided tour. Next I'm off to a little village on Dartmoor - where one of my Sisters lives. We first meet my young nephew Angus and he shows us some javelin throwing techniques, we then walk around the village, and then my Niece Teigan has some very interesting things to say about life and the universe. After a look at Dartmoor we arrive back in Sidmouth for a final wander. Since my last visit the river Sid has swelled and is now a brown torrent. The natural ford I was going to show you is rather underwater. We then go up to the public park - paid for by the local community - and then around a secret garden area with wonderful flowers and very expensive houses. At the last gasp we get to see some thatched roofs - and I talk about that.
