Another run of Historic Car Cup race 2 against the GT40 at Rome, and probably my favourite so far. I wanted to try and replicate GT4's One Lap Magic mission format in GT2 after watching other streamers doing the same, and it ended up being a really intense and satisfying race. Using an FD RX-7, one of the best 295hp cars in the game, I wanted to see how much of a head-start you can give the GT40 to make the race barely winnable. By sheer coincidence, it ended up being a very round number of 30 seconds. Of course, rubberband is a massive factor when you allow the AI to have such a huge lead in this game, but you still need to drive without any mistakes if you want to catch up. The Mazdaspeed A-spec is an absolute rocket, but its low ride height compared to other FD's gives it a very sharp turning response and sensitivity to bumps that can be difficult to manage. To prevent instability, I had to soften the rear springs, stiffen the rear stabiliser and keep the front camber at 2.0. The other FD's (without racing modifications) generally feel a bit more stable and easier to drive. Music used: City Limits - Spencer Nilsen (from Batman Returns) Antares - ? (from Tekken 5) Mr. Svensson's Coffeebreak in Heaven - Taku Yabuki I played NTSC-U GT2 on DuckStation with 60 FPS, 16:9 and metric conversion codes.
