Elevator Montegalletto Balbi - Dogali, Genova Italy

A lot of parts of the city of Genova are built inside the mountains. To connect these parts to the city centre there are busses as well as some other transportation facilities like cable cars, cog railways and elevators. The point of the elevators is, that you sometimes have to work through long tunnels until you reach the point where it was possible to built a vertical shaft inside the mountain. This elevator is located near to the principe railway station. The horizontal tunnel is round about 230m long. So they decided for a special system here. This is more like a mix of an elevator and a cable car or people mover. The system has two vertical shafts and two cabs, but the can not ride independently, because the horizontal part has only one track. At the point where the system changes between horizontal and vertical movement there is the switch for both cabs. I know there are some videos of this system, but because it is ultra special and uniqe I wanted to show it on my channel too. Hope you like it.
