Women and men are equal in whichever sport they play | Vera Pauw | TEDxEde

Equality and what does it mean? Which hurtles do you have to overcome and which perseverance is needed to overcome gender segregation? Vera's idea is that women and men are equal in whichever sport they play. She will be speaking from her experience in the football world, which is her life and speciality and about the huge role sport has in the emancipation of young girls and women. Vera Pauw is a Dutch football coach and the first female to achive a trainers diploma in the Dutch football world. She has quite a lot of experience coaching the Dutch, Scottish en Russian teams. Currentlly she coaches the South African women’s football team Banyana Banyana who have qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games In Rio de Janeiro. Being the only girl of a triplet, Vera grew up like a boy. She could finally play football at the age of 13. Later as national coach and technical director of different countries she used her experiences to influence the approach of creating equal development opportunities for both boys and girls in sport.'
