Folks - in the first video of this series we talked about what kH is, and I used the analogy that kH is like your pH's "ozone layer," protecting your pH from acidic nitrates that might eat away at it. If this happens, this causes tank pH to drop and sudden pH drops are toxic to our fish. kH is extremely important, acting as the "buffer" between our pH and our tank's acidic nitrates. This is why kH levels are also called referred to as your tank's "buffering capacity." In part 2 of this series, we talked about how to measure your tank's kH and the recommend kH levels for various types of fish. In part 3, we talk about how to raise or lower your tank's kH, depending on what your goals are for your tank and what fish you want to keep. I hope this video, and this series, was helpful to you!
