Snowman - In Memory.

It is with a heavy heart I announce that my dear old horse Snowman crossed the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 21 today. Although his life started out rough due to abusive training, eventually he learned to trust people and become a great, ver satile riding horse. Snowman was a kind, sweet horse whose only aim was to please. As a young horse, he was the object of a horse-crazy little girl's affections (that would be me). I remember him always holding his head perfectly still for me as I struggled to put a halter on him, often taking me 2 or 3 tries to get it right. He would wait for me stoically as I found dog leashes to steer him with, then stand patiently as I attempted to climb up on his back so I could ride him bareback around the yard. Over the 16 years he's been a part of the family, Snowman taught me how to be an intuitive, soft rider in order to overcome his nervousness. He was a hunter champion. He traveled hundreds of miles of trails. He carried me over a 4-foot fence for the first time, and he even posed as George Washington's horse in a few 4th of July parades. Over the last few years of his life, he was no longer sound to ride, but he enjoyed the spoiled life. Snowman had roam of our entire 20 acres, often found standing out in the front yard, serving as our official greeter to visitors. Recently he had been having great difficulty walking, laying down, and getting up, until he finally could no longer stand. Although it was a hard decision we made the humane choice to relieve his pain. In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love of his best friends, both horse and human. I hope you enjoy this simple video celebrating his life. He was so beautiful, kind, and always tried his best.
