DIY Leather Bag with Rolled Edges We've been experimenting with rolled edges on small bags for a while to implement structure. For this bag, we used a rolled edge that we skived minimally to keep the full thickness of the leather (about 5oz) at the fold, creating a very strong opening that will keep it's shape with use. This leather bag is small, meant to fit only the essentials - a phone, maybe a small wallet. We put a credit card slot on the outside with a strap closure featuring our sponsor Weaver Leather's button stud to allow for easy access. The leather we used is nice and flexible without being too soft, which worked great for that turned edge. For the strap, we used a very simple loop and knot design that gives a very bohemian feel. It's also very easy to do, so you don't have to worry about the weight of additional buckles and hardware. Overall we've really enjoyed making this small leather bag and we're looking forward to making a second version with some changes to put into use!
