More players are playing at the high school level while the number of D1 schools stays stagnant. It feels like if you have not hit the genetic lottery of being an elite athlete it’s impossible to play at the next level. While being fast and strong seems like the only path to D1 success there is another much easier route. Lacrosse is a fast-moving game with many intricacies that go unnoticed by the casual viewer. Concepts like a player's posture, timing of slides, or release point of their shots. These little details are what a D1 scout looks for when he watches games. The issue is that it is nearly impossible to notice these details in yourself. You can watch your film to try and fix your errors. But quickly you will realize you do not know the right thing to do. So you end up going through a long process of experimenting with different play styles and practicing the wrong things. Before you know it the recruiting process is over and you have zero offers.
