From the Bartolo Colon Cy Young over Johan Santana in 2005, which could have erased the chances of a Johan Santana Hall of Fame induction, MLB Cy Young voters used to put a lot of weight into a pitcher's win/loss record, as well as their team's record. Along came Felix Hernandez. He grabbed the 2010 Felix Hernandez Cy Young award with just 13 wins and 12 losses! This was surprising considering just how bad the 2010 Seattle Mariners offense was, as they scored just 513 runs despite the best efforts of Ichiro. It's safe to say that there wasn't much Felix Hernandez run support, as the Felix Hernandez Mariners had one of the worst offenses of all time. Still, King Felix was able to defeat both David Price and CC Sabathia in the 2010 Cy Young race, which set the table for multiple Jacob deGrom Cy Young awards. The sabermetrics and analytics favored both King Felix and deGrom despite their records, so I would say it's a good thing that they won.
