While New Haven is home to many famous restaurants, particularly the legendary New Haven pizza scene, Louis' Lunch may be the most famous restaurant in New Haven. Just steps from the uber prestigious Yale University, Louis' Lunch is the first hamburger restaurant in the world, or at least they claim to be. There are many competing claims for who invented the hamburger and we will just have to take Louis' Lunch word for it in this case. Now whether or not Louis' Lunch invented the hamburger or not, it is still one of the most famous restaurants in New Haven and therefore one of the most famous restaurants in Connecticut and one that is also somewhat commutable from New York City. We drove up from New Jersey to answer the question of is Louis' Lunch good or is Louis' Lunch overrated? Or are the open flame cooked Louis' Lunch burgers truly divine and a work of art?
