Hemostasis is defined as “cessation of blood bleeding”. There are 2 types of hemostasis: 1. Primary hemostasis: formation of weak, temporary platelet plug (by platelets). 2. Secondary hemostasis: formation of stronger fibrin meshwork (by coagulation factors).
