Kompanie des Wachbataillons beim BMVg Leitung: Stabsfeldwebel Christian Richter Oberfeldwebel Christian Dähnert Mit Aufstellungsbefehl Nr. 40 vom 16.02.1957 wurde die Aufstellung des Wachbataillons beim Bundesministerium der Verteidigung (WachBtl BMVg) verfügt. Vornehmlich mit Wehrpflichtigen versieht es seit 1961 den protokollarischen Hauptauftrag. Alljährlich durchlaufen das Bataillon knapp 1.500 Soldaten. Die Soldaten des Wachbataillons werden zu Protokoll-, Wach- und Sicherungssoldaten ausgebildet. Sie erweisen offiziellen Besuchern des Bundespräsidenten, der Bundeskanzlerin, des Bundesministers der Verteidigung und der Inspekteure, entsprechend ihres protokollarischen Ranges, militärische Ehren. Aufgrund der Gepflogenheit des internationalen Protokolls ist das Tragen von Bärten nicht gestattet. Nach der Grundausbildung erfolgt eine 30-tägige protokollarische Ausbildung. Diese hat als Schwerpunkt den Drill mit dem Karabiner 98k, dem Repräsentationsgewehr des Wachbataillons. Neben einer Vielzahl verschiedener protokollarischer Aufträge stellen die Einsätze beim Bundespräsidenten, der Bundeskanzlerin, des Bundesministers der Verteidigung und der Große Zapfenstreich zu Ehren hochrangiger Persönlichkeiten und öffentliche Auftritte bei Musikfesten immer wieder einen Höhepunkt im militärischen Alltag des Wachbataillons dar. Seit November 2008 steht Herr Oberstleutnant Marcus Göttelmann als 18. Kommandeur seit seiner Aufstellung an der Spitze dieses einzigartigen Verbandes. Zum diesjährigen Berliner Militärmusikfest präsentiert sich das Wachbataillon beim Bundesministerium der Verteidigung mit einer Ehrenformation, gestellt durch die 3. Kompanie aus Siegburg, dem Drilleam, gestellt durch die 7. Kompanie aus Berlin und Zusammenarbeit mit dem Spielmannszug des Stabsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr.
