This is a slide show of a walk through the Ardverikie Estate to Binnein Shuas; a Graham of 747m. Ardverikie House was made famous by the TV series Monarch of the Glen (2000 - 2005), which told the story of young Archie MacDonald trying to restore his childhood home in the Scottish Highlands. The series was loosely based on Sir Compton Mackenzie's novels which are set in the same location albeit between the 1930s - 1940s. The 19th Century baronial house is located in Kinloch Laggan, Newtonmore, Inverness-shire. In the series it was referred to as Glenbogle House. During its airing the series not only raised awareness of the difficulties of running a large estate but introduced ideas such as re-wilding to a wider audience. As you walk from the House to the mountain you get a real sense of place. There really is something magical here.
