Kelsier vs Inquisitor - EPIC VERSION - 500 SUBSCRIBER SPECIAL

WOOHOO, HERE WE GO!!! Here we are! After a little over five years of me sharing music on YouTube, this channel has hit the grand 500! Actually, as of writing this description, I’m at 511 subs, which is EVEN COOLER!!! I have you dearies to thank for it, and I’m truly thankful to you all for your views, your likes, your comments, and your subscriptions! Thank you and may the music stay ever with you! Now, before I get into the rest of the description, I must give credit where credit is due with the artwork. This amazing art of the Kelsier vs Inquisitor battle is by Morgan Weber, whom you can find more art and information on with these links: https://www.artstation.com/morganwebe...   / morganweberart   Go check out the rest of Morgan’s art! So, since most of the attention on this channel is on the Fanmade Mistborn Soundtrack and that’s what most of my subscribers subbed for in the first place, I thought it only fitting that the 500 subscriber special should be a Mistborn song. But this won’t just be a new Mistborn song (which there will still be more of) or any old new version of an existing one (which there will also still be more of), but a callback to the most viewed video on this channel. The video that has more views than all my others combined: the original Kelsier vs Inquisitor song, recorded with iPhone video quality and played live by me on an electric keyboard set to orchestral voices. I’m proud of that work to this day, but I’ve always wanted to do a new and improved version. The original was epic enough, but I wanted to make it MORE EPIC. Whether or not I did is ultimately up to you listeners, but I did my best on this. :) SPOILER WARNING! Kelsier’s fight against the Inquisitor Bendal in the first Mistborn book is one of the coolest, most epic fight scenes in any fantasy book I’ve read, and definitely one of the best action scenes Brandon Sanderson has ever written. Despite not being the climax of the book, it still feels incredibly climactic. So, I was determined to give the fight the most epic soundtrack I could. I still dedicate myself to that goal. It’s not a note-for-note play-by-play of the fight scene where I key specific points of the fight to points of time in the song, but instead mostly serves to set and match the mood of the action with a few key moments triggering the music. But there are a few… differences from the original. You’ll hear that the melodic lines and harmonic progression of the song are very similar to the original, but a bit has been added; more harmonies and ornamentations that my two hands just couldn’t play on a keyboard. Now it sounds more natural, more similar to an actual symphony orchestra. But those of you familiar with the original track will also notice that more has been added. At 1:42, a little excerpt is done with a specific segment in mind, when the Inquisitor begins targeting innocent civilians to taunt Kelsier, Elend Venture among them as he searches for “Valette Renoux”. Kelsier sees Elend in mortal danger, and despite his hatred of nobility, reminds himself that Vin loves Elend and that he’s not so bad. And so, Kelsier swoops in, saves him (represented by that heroic little flare at 1:54), and gets right back to fighting the Inquisitor. The rest of the action continues, climaxing at the moment of 3:00 as Kelsier has pinned the Inquisitor’s head to a wagon and brings down his axe in a final killing blow. A victory that is quick to inspire the thousands of people watching. You may know what happens next, but that's not part of this song's story... I hope this new version of the song was worth the wait. I definitely had fun writing it and I really hope you all enjoy it. Thank you all for staying with me after all this time. It means a lot to me. Stay tuned for more great music to come. I might still have some surprises for you… ;)
