Tour Company used in this video: https://www.alpacaexpeditions.com/ Chapters: Introduction: 0:00 Day 1 Km 82 - Ayapata 1:26 We hike along the Urumbamba River spotting numerous hummingbirds and Incan settlements such as Piskakucho and Patallacta along with small Quechua villages on our way to the Ayapata Campsite. Day 2 Ayapata - Chaquicocha 7:56 We depart before dawn on the longest and most challenging day of the Inca Trail, climbing to the highest point of the trail at Dead Woman’s Pass suffering altitude sickness along the way. We explore the Incan ruins of Pacaymayo, Runkurakay and Sayamarca before reaching the Chaquicocha campsite at sunset. Day 3 Chaquicocha- Winay Wayna 20:12 The most scenic day of the journey, we travel along authentic Incan paved stone trails with breathtaking views of glacial covered Andean peaks. On our descent into the forest we take in the Incan ruins of Phuyupamarca, and the agricultural sites of Intipata and Wiñay Huayna, the most impressive Incan site before reaching Machu Picchu. Here we learn about the Spanish Conquest of the Inca. Day 4 Winay Wayna - Machu Picchu 36:02 We depart before sunset once again to hike to the Sungate (Inti Punku) for a glimpse of the ancient city, Machu Picchu at Sunrise. We make our way down to the site known as the most impressive of all 7 wonders of the world! Here we learn about the mysteries of this site as we walk through to the highlight of the journey, hiking to a point few tourists dare to go, the towering peak of Huayna Picchu. After climbing the stairs of death we get the ultimate view of Machu Picchu from directly above. We finish up at the township of Aguas Calientes before boarding our train back to Cusco.
