NRL Analysis: How teams target spots in attack

His team didn’t get the win in this one but Tommy Talau's fill up in NRL Round 14 was a nice reminder that the weekly highlight reels dont always show us everything. What looked like a winger repeatedly beating his opposite number was actually the result of Manly’s ability to target a spot in Penrith’s line a bit further infield. The Sea Eagles attacked the spaces around young Jack Cole defending at three-man on the Panthers right edge in this one while also testing the organisation of Daine Laurie counting numbers at fullback. The involvements of Jake Trbojevic in particular allowed Manly to repeatedly isolate Luke Brooks onto Cole and breakdown Penrith's edge defence. Sunia Turuva and Izack Tago are the ones getting beat on the replay and both have copped a bit of grief on the socials for their involvements here. As this video breakdown shows though, Manly’s target was actually a little further infield where the damage had already been done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We want YOU to be the most informed rugby league fan at your pub.
