Today's adventure took us to Cañon City, the Royal City of the Gorge! (Februrary 11, 2023) Cañon City began as a supply camp for the South Park Valley. With a diverse economy of logistics, mining, oil and agriculture, it quickly became one of early-Colorado's most important cities. Today Cañon is famous for it's location next to the Royal Gorge, outdoor activities and large number of regional prisons! My family and I are on a mission to learn about the history and geography of where we live by visiting every town within a 4 hour drive of our house. We live in Pueblo West and once per month we are going to venture out and explore the great state of Colorado, one town at a time!
