SUFFERING BASTARD

A great refreshing summertime (or anytime) cocktail. Sort of a hybrid mule, really, using both gin and bourbon with bitters, fresh lime juice and ginger beer. The recipe may deter some with its somewhat frightening mixing of whiskey and gin in a single cocktail, but the flavor cannot be argued to be anything but amazing. Often associated as a World War II cocktail because of its origin in the 1940's, the story goes that this cocktail could ail hangovers for suffering soldiers. More than not, it was just the "hair of the dog" presented in a more tiki style cocktail. The original recipe calls for brandy or cognac, but any whiskey can also replace it. Our Guardian Bourbon mixes beautifully with lime and lemon juice, as does our Wingman Gin. Made this way you will have two Gold Medal winning 1350 Spirits in one libation. SUFFERING BASTARD Glass: Highball filled with ice • 3 Dashes of Aromatic Bitters • 1 Oz. Wingman Gin (80 proof / 40% abv) • 1 Oz. Guardian Bourbon (80 proof / 40% abv) • 0.5 Oz. Lime Juice • Fill the rest of glass with Ginger Beer Stir in glass Garnish: Lime Wedge
